Vastly popular restaurant Six By Nico has conquered the UK in style, with branches in London, Glasgow, Manchester, Edinburgh, and Liverpool. Are we forgetting somewhere? Of course! Belfast has also had the Six By Nico treatment, which offers a simple but unique concept: an affordable six-course taster menu that refreshes every six weeks.
Born in Finnieston, Glasgow, Six By Nico has an admirable commitment to refreshing their diners palates’, with the rotating menu switching up regularly to keep things interesting. At the time of press, the restaurant is just rounding off a sun-soaked ‘From Miami to Ibiza’ menu, before beginning a ‘Hanoi’ adventure that’ll boast dishes such as crispy prawn Nem Rán, with spring roll, carrot & mooli, or Gỏi Xoài (tamarind chicken with sweet potato hash and burnt mango). It runs from July 18 until August 28, at which point the restaurant will presumably turn attentions towards something a little more autumnal.
Menus in the past have also included the beloved chippy tea theme (complete with a deep fried Mars bar), Hollywood, and Once Upon A Time, which all won the hearts of many a diner. Although most of the themes take inspiration from classic dishes and traditional cuisines, they will all come with their own unique touches to give you that distinctive dining experience we all crave.
And, for a bougie six-course fine dining, the set menu is by no means unreasonable given what’s on offer; the six-course Hanoi menu can be had for £37 (although to add specially-selected wine pairings puts an extra £30 on top). Oh, and of course there’s the other perk to this place: if you miss out on a menu you liked the look of, don’t worry, because something entirely different and equally delicious will be along very soon!
