One of the most captivating elements about a flamenco performance is that it doesn’t have to follow a script. More often than not, performers are overtaken by the duende – an indescribable feeling that inspires them to let the enchantment of flamenco lead the way. At “We Call It Flamenco” in Belfast, famous palos (flamenco variations) will set the structure for the evening, but it’ll be the spontaneous flamenco magic that commands the enchanting performances. Ready to feel it for yourself? The duende is only a strum of a guitar away…
On selected dates over the coming months, this magnificent live-music and dance show will be taking place amid a sea of flowers. Tickets are on sale now but places are limited, so make sure you secure your spot today!
What is “We Call It Flamenco”?
“We Call It Flamenco” is a gorgeous show that takes place over the course of four mesmerising acts. Sporting mantones (manila shawls) and trajes de flamenca (flamenco dresses), dancers will take to the flower-adorned stage to bring the essence and magic of flamenco all the way from flowery Andalusian towns to Belfast. They’ll be accompanied by a professionally-trained guitarist and a cantaor (singer) to stir your soul with every twist of the hand, stomp of the foot and strum of the guitar.
Flamenco, its palos and the show
Flamenco is made up of over 50 variations known as palos. At “We Call It Flamenco” in Belfast, authentic palos will be performed, including bulerías, fandangos, solea and cantiñas, but that doesn’t mean that the dancers and musicians won’t add their own special twist on the night. These performers have years of experience under the belt, so when the duende takes hold, they know exactly how to spice up the performance with impromptu footwork and body movements.
“We Call It Flamenco” in Belfast combines traditional palos with spontaneous Andalusian flair for an enchanting spectacle to remember. Each show takes place over the course of 60 minutes and doors open 30 minutes prior to the concert start time. Seating is assigned on a first-come, first-served basis within each zone, so the earlier you get to the venue, the better.
