The Candlelight series has dazzled Belfast audiences with tributes to classical composers and rock bands, but this summer, something extra special is coming for Pride Month. The music industry has numerous legends and gay musical icons paving and having paved the way for the LGBTQ community. A spectacular Candlelight concert celebrating the likes of Sam Smith, Fanny Mendelssohn, and Frank Ocean is set to illuminate the vintage space at the Belfast Empire Music Hall.
Guided by some of the most influential artists of all time, a talented string quartet will take to the candlelit stage to perform orchestral takes on modern-day hits and timeless compositions. Candlelight Pride: Celebrating Queer Musical Icons
Lil Nas X continues to embody confidence while sporting striking outfits and pushing boundaries with his music. The legendary Elton John has been inspiring fans for decades through his activism since coming out as bisexual in a 1976 interview with Rolling Stone. The American singer Janelle Monáe has become a queer icon thanks to her “nobody tells me what to do” attitude when it comes to sharing her identity.
Music by these incredible artists feature on the setlist for this one-of-a-kind concert in Belfast. The classically-trained string quartet will be serenading you with classical renditions of well-known hits and compositions showcasing the power of music and its drive for change. You can expect to hear Brandi Carlisle’s “The Story”, “Somewhere” from West Side Story, and many more familiar tracks.
Candlelight at The Belfast Empire Music Hall
The Belfast Empire Music Hall is an irresistibly vintage venue for hosting events. Since opening its doors in 1987, the Music Hall has become one of the country’s premier live music bars. Deep shades of red, velvet seating, ornate wallpaper, and wooden tabletops are some of the cosy details enhancing its charm. This Victorian era church turned impressive venue, is the perfect setting for an enchanting Candlelight concert bathed in the glow of hundreds of flickering candles.

The concert takes place with two back-to-back performances, at 6:30 pm and 9:00 pm, with doors opening 45 minutes prior to the start time.
